Volunteer and Job Opportunities in FPMT
From directors to work-study volunteers, there are many different ways you can help FPMT centers, projects and services – please have a look to see what jobs and volunteer opportunities are currently open.
Click here for more background about offering service in the FPMT organization.
New Future For and With FPMT’s Tibetan Interpreter Training Program?
Would you like to serve FPMT, sentient beings, and simultaneously build a career as the director of FPMT’s Tibetan interpretation school, LRZTP?
We are looking for a suitable individual to ‘adopt’ LRZTP for FPMT and run it as their project long-term, being responsible for it academically and financially, as a career/business. This would enable LRZTP to get the long-term in-depth attention it deserves in order to develop further. There would be a commitment to offer the core LRZTP interpreter-training program every few years (as FPMT centers will always have a need for new interpreters), and then the new director is encouraged to look at other ways to develop LRZTP: perhaps via an online Tibetan language course, and be the ‘go to’ Tibetan language interpreter body for the organization.
Buddha House, Adelaide
We are looking for a dynamic, confident, hands-on director, a real team player who can motivate, support and lead staff and volunteers at Buddha House, a medium sized non-residential teaching centre located in suburban Adelaide in South Australia. Buddha House is privileged to have Venerable Thubten Dondrub as our resident teacher.
The centre has an active board ensuring robust good governance, and the director will report to and be supported by the board. This position is currently a volunteer position with limited funds allocated to reimburse Director’s work expenses.
Chenrezig Institute, Queensland
There are regular opportunities to join Chenrezig Institute’s Work Exchange Programme. Work areas for our ‘live in volunteers’ include the kitchen/cafe, grounds/maintenance and housekeeping – all vital to keeping our busy teaching centre running. We are about 90 minutes north of Brisbane on 160 acres in the beautiful sub-tropical Sunshine Coast hinterland. In exchange for thirty hours of work per week over five days we offer free access to teachings and meditations from our extensive study programme, accommodation and three meals a day. Everyone is welcome to apply to join our vibrant team. The main requirements are interest in Buddhism, enthusiasm to offer service and to be part of a thriving spiritual community. More information and to find an application form
Resident Teacher Opportunity
Tushita Meditation Centre, Dharamsala
We have a wonderful opportunity for an FPMT Foundational or In-Depth Buddhism registered teacher to offer service at this vibrant center in a very blessed environment. The Resident Teacher will mainly teach courses and lead retreats at Tushita for ten months per year (February-November), ideally for 2 years.
These are most precious opportunities to serve Lama Zopa Rinpoche, the FPMT and all sentient beings in the second oldest FPMT Centre, situated in the hills above McLeod Ganj, Dharamsala, India – the home-in-exile of His Holiness the Dalai Lama!
Health, School, Maintenance Opportunities to Offer Service
Root Institute for Wisdom Culture, Bodhgaya
The Shakyamuni Buddha Community Health Care Centre in Root Institute is looking for a Health Projects Administrator, and also for physiotherapist and nurse volunteers.
Maitreya School urgently requires a School Administrator.
Root Institute is also looking for a Maintenance Manager.
More information about each post, including how to apply.
Chief Executive Officer Opportunity
FPMT Mongolia (FPMT M) is currently in search of a Chief Executive Officer (CEO) who is an experienced, well qualified, innovative and committed individual with leadership, organizational, management and inter-personal skills, to help fulfill all of the current and future plans and programs of FPMTM, working with its Board of Directors and following the policies and guidelines of FPMT.

We are looking for volunteers who wish to be part of our practising community. A strong wish to offer service as part of one’s spiritual practice is essential. A student of Lama Zopa Rinpoche would be ideal but, at the very least, applicants should have a sincere interest in the study and practice of Tibetan Buddhism. The centre offers food and accommodation and the opportunity to attend courses as time permits. If you would like to offer service and are sure that you can live contentedly in a somewhat isolated rural area, please email email@example.com.

In particular, the SPC must have proven competency in standard FPMT ritual practice, harmonious team-creation and development, ethical leadership, effective programming, and practice of good heart. The spc will have devotion to Lama Zopa Rinpoche and alignment with the FPMT Mission Statement. The spc will work closely with the director and resident teacher in creating Land of Joy. Volunteer Work Opportunities

Would you, or anyone you know, like to spend some time in a Dharma community?
Jamyang Buddhist Centre in London offers the unique opportunity to be a Work Programme Volunteer in a vibrant and friendly FPMT city centre with a resident English-speaking geshe. We provide free board, accommodation and Dharma classes, plus a small weekly allowance, in return for three months work, five days per week. We are looking for volunteers to join the hospitality team, which cleans the centre, does some washing and ironing, and sets up our events (which can be physically demanding).
This post is very much about service – to visitors and to students – and about enjoying helping others get the most from their time here. As English is the working language of the Centre it helps to have good spoken and written English and some computing skills, but the main qualities you need are friendliness, enthusiasm and a good sense of humour (as sometimes it can be a bit full on here!).
