Fulfilling Our Lamas’ Wishes Fund
The Fulfilling Our Lamas’ Wishes Fund was established as a means to express the deep gratitude felt around the world for FPMT’s late founders, Lama Thubten Yeshe and Lama Zopa Rinpoche, for their immense kindness and inspiration. Through their profound and selfless lives of teaching, service and guidance, a vast, multi-generational vision and mission is set before us to preserve the Mahayana tradition, uphold the Gelug lineage of the great Je Tsongkhapa, and help create a more compassionate world.
In the spirit of the former Work a Day for Rinpoche Fund, the Fulfilling Our Lamas’ Wishes Fund begins as an annual campaign at the end of this year, to invite generosity and merit-making in support of the teachings, projects and activities of the Foundation.
Offerings will fund our focused efforts in:
- Archiving and publishing the precious collections of teachings from Lama Zopa Rinpoche in multiple languages, which includes decades of video and audio recordings and manuscripts;
- The ongoing development of FPMT Education programs;
- Publishing study and practice materials, and translation projects;
- Stewarding the many compassionate FPMT Charitable Projects;
- Our services to local FPMT affiliate leadership and staff;
- Connecting the international community through our website and media communications and resources.
All of these activities were set forth from the kind wishes of Lama Thubten Yeshe and Lama Zopa Rinpoche, and fulfilling these wishes is one way to begin to repay all that they offered to sentient beings.
Our problem is that inside us there’s a mind going, “Impossible, impossible, impossible. I can’t, I can’t, I can’t.” We have to banish that mind from this solar system. Anything is possible; everything is possible. Sometimes you feel that your dreams are impossible, but they’re not. Human beings have great potential; they can do anything. The power of the mind is incredible, limitless.
The whole point of FPMT is to bring sentient beings to full enlightenment, to peerless happiness. … This is what the FPMT [organization] has been trying to do, and this is the function of FPMT International Office, to help in that.

Another Way to Offer Support
One of Lama Zopa Rinpoche’s Vast Visions for the FPMT organization, which will span generations, is to encourage the recitation of the Sutra of Golden Light as much as possible, in as many parts of the world as possible. Offering a recitation of the sutra is another beneficial way to contribute to the campaign each year.
The most beneficial thing to have peace and to stop the wars is recitation of the Golden Light Sutra. This is the most beneficial thing to bring peace, everyone should try to do this, no matter how busy they are, even to recite one or two pages, even a few lines. So by reciting the whole text is unbelievably beneficial, one collects extensive merits, liberates numberless sentient beings from the oceans of suffering and brings them to enlightenment.
You can learn more about the Sutra of Golden Light, download a copy, and also receive the oral transmission of the sutra directly from Rinpoche from a recorded video on the Sutra of Golden Light homepage. If you complete any recitations, be sure to report them for our ongoing worldwide count!
