Foundation for the Preservation of the Mahayana Tradition
The FPMT is an organization devoted to preserving and spreading Mahayana Buddhism worldwide by creating opportunities to listen, reflect, meditate, practice and actualize the unmistaken teachings of the Buddha and based on that experience spreading the Dharma to sentient beings. We provide integrated education through which people’s minds and hearts can be transformed into their highest potential for the benefit of others, inspired by an attitude of universal responsibility and service. We are committed to creating harmonious environments and helping all beings develop their full potential of infinite wisdom and compassion. Our organization is based on the Buddhist tradition of Lama Tsongkhapa of Tibet as taught to us by our founders Lama Thubten Yeshe and Lama Thubten Zopa Rinpoche.

If you have fear of some pain or suffering, you should examine whether there is anything you can do about it. If you can, there is no need to worry about it; if you cannot do anything, then there is also no need to worry.

Lama Zopa Rinpoche’s Recent Activities
Lama Zopa Rinpoche recently concluded his teachings at Kachoe Ghakyil Ling Nunnery; traveled to Pokhara and Patan, Nepal, for auspicious activities; and will now be taking a short break from teachings. You can read more details as well as enjoy a photo album of Rinpoche’s recent activities.
Teaching Excerpts from Lama Zopa Rinpoche
During Rinpoche’s pause on his thought transformation teaching series, we have been sharing topical excerpts from Rinpoche’s teachings from past years. Recent blogs include:
- “About the Importance of Bodhicitta,” from a teaching given in Singapore, 2018, where Rinpoche explains the vast benefits of practicing bodhicitta.
- “The Real Meaning of Practicing Dharma,” from a teaching given in Madrid, Spain, 2018, where Rinpoche discusses what it means to truly practice Dharma.
- “With Patience, We Have Genuine Peace,” an excerpt from Rinpoche’s book, The Six Perfections: The Practice of the Bodhisattvas. In the book, Rinpoche walks us through the six perfections, which are a key Mahayana Buddhist teaching. This is an excerpt from Rinpoche’s teaching on the perfection of patience.

Buddha House Celebrates Its 40th Anniversary!
Lama Yeshe and Lama Zopa Rinpoche inspired thousands of students from around the world through the teachings they offered at Kopan Monastery, Nepal, during the 1970s and 80s. The centers started by those early students formed the basis for the international FPMT organization. Many of those centers continue to thrive, bringing Dharma teachings to a new generation of students. This year Buddha House, in Adelaide, Australia, celebrated its fortieth anniversary. Lyndy Abrams, who was both key to the founding of Buddha House and currently serves as the center’s director, shares an update with us.
Big Thanks for the Year-end Support!
Our annual year-end Give Where Most Needed campaign received over US$21,500 in support in December. We send our sincere gratitude for the generosity coming in from around the world! These unrestricted funds can be used to support International Office’s work or other new projects and activities in need that uphold the FPMT mission. Please rejoice!
