Foundation for the Preservation of the Mahayana Tradition
The FPMT is an organization devoted to preserving and spreading Mahayana Buddhism worldwide by creating opportunities to listen, reflect, meditate, practice and actualize the unmistaken teachings of the Buddha and based on that experience spreading the Dharma to sentient beings. We provide integrated education through which people’s minds and hearts can be transformed into their highest potential for the benefit of others, inspired by an attitude of universal responsibility and service. We are committed to creating harmonious environments and helping all beings develop their full potential of infinite wisdom and compassion. Our organization is based on the Buddhist tradition of Lama Tsongkhapa of Tibet as taught to us by our founders Lama Thubten Yeshe and Lama Thubten Zopa Rinpoche.

In the Centers, Everything That Is Done Is for Sentient Beings
“You can see that working for the FPMT organization, working for the Dharma center wherever you are, is not just physical work—making a road or building a house or something … Do you understand how bringing the wisdom light of Dharma to the minds of sentient beings—which are like a dark room where they have suffered continuously without end since beginningless rebirths—is so important? How bringing the light of Dharma to the darkness of their hearts and minds is so important?” Read in full …

Two New Online Pieces from Mandala!
The well-known American Buddhist teacher, scholar, and author Ven. Thubten Chodron spoke with Mandala about her newest book with His Holiness the Dalai Lama. Released in August 2017 by Wisdom Publications, Approaching the Buddhist Path is the first in a new series—The Library of Wisdom and Compassion—that will constitute the main English-language lamrim teachings of His Holiness. Ven. Chodron talks about His Holiness’s wish to present his teaching on the path to enlightenment in a way suited to modern-educated people. Read October’s new online feature: “Presenting the Path to Modern Students: An Interview with Ven. Thubten Chodron.”
In September, Mandala published the story of the Yamantaka practice group that formed at Tara Institute in Australia. Cynthia Karena reports on how the group came together and did a retreat, illustrating the power and potential of group practice. Read “Community and Commitment: A Yamantaka Study Group at Tara Institute in Australia.”
